You spend a year learning,
not in the College kind of way, but the
How Do I Feel kind of way,
the Shortcut kind of way,
the Way To Do Things Easiest.
You find out that Some Faces
never fade from your memory,
or they're layered over with new ones
like translucent sheets,
blurring a once-clear image.
You find out that putting all your eggs in one basket
ends up leaving you without breakfast in the morning.
You find out that exact moment you Must wake up
to make it In Time, whatever that means,
dragging your ten thousand ton body
out of bed to add the weight of cotton
or wool of a now-slaughtered lamb.
You learn what you Definitely Can Do, or Definitely Cannot,
like really Push to Make Things Better (yes) and
Really Care Enough to Really keep up with Politics (no).
Importantly, you learn where you Live.
You learn that living in your head leads to steam rising,
or birds swirling, or in the clouds unable to breathe.
You learn that living in your heart leads to palpitations,
or thickened blood, or an ache so deep it creeps up your throat.
You learn that living in your stomach leads to knots,
or constant grumbling, or sour vomit at 4 a.m.
And you learn that living in your feet leads to urges, or lust,
or slipping on shoes in the middle of a dream
to find the nearest imaginary ledge.
I Live Here.
And so, hopeful, I leap.

chasing it downwards as the mornings heard
a new's to be borne. watch it rise- neo/one
over heads sealed
cellophane/cellophane
all souls candle lit in honour of those unlistening
each generation. the core of everyone
suburban sahel. i drift a sparse dimension
up and out- we take our go
left behind
swept ash&bone
away where i say i'll go
gliding down the river flow
you'll wake me and i'll know
as one with the river flow
seven utters. sacred cow. they pull at her- suck the drip. heaven utters. gold on the river- ferryman's trip.
lapping, licking, lady legs of bough

ariel what could i say? I've found that its better this way. and what would you do if i gave up for you, had no points to prove, no substance abuse issues? venom thats served on a plate, two lovers i just can't placate. if i had to choose i'd take pieces of you, call them points to prove, find obvious ways to love you. i'm caught in the middle of my two best friends. beg and belittle 'til i find the end, i could do this forever and a day. get it together, don't you want her bad? inclement weather, not the worst we've had. years i've loved you in the back of my head. ariel, my stories told! it's getting old sayin' the same old shit again and again

i am sorry, stickbug, you got stuck in the sap
climbed up way too high and now you're not comin back
the forest has gone silent and there's snow on the ground
i am sorry, stickbug, but you're not coming down
the summertime can never last
there is no warmth in what has passed
so borrow deep inside the trees
lay dormant through the coming freeze
